Why Learn Cybersecurity

Companies rely on cybersecurity professionals to protect their critical systems and sensitive data from cyberattacks. There are plenty of career and financial opportunities for cybersecurity professionals, thanks to the high demand for talent. Lightcast™ reports that the average entry-level Cybersecurity Analyst salary in Los Angeles is $80,700. Cybersecurity salaries can be increased by obtaining additional security clearances.

The Demand for Cyber Talent

There are many opportunities in California and across the United States. According to research from cyberseek.org, in the Los Angeles metro area alone, there are currently over 20,000 open cybersecurity roles and a very low supply of cybersecurity talent.

Nationally, there are over half a million cyber jobs that employers are trying to fill. Businesses actively seeking cybersecurity professionals span across all industries and sizes, and they include local high-tech employers like Amazon, Anthem Blue Cross, and Boeing, to name a few.

These companies are hiring for roles like IT Help Desk Specialist, Systems Support Specialist, and Cybersecurity Analyst. Grads studying the Caltech Cyber Bootcamp curriculum will be prepared for roles like these—and more.

For this reason, many companies have policies that provide some paid time and tuition reimbursement for CEUs. Check with your HR team to learn about your company’s continuing education policies.
